the Mass shooter and the suicide bomber

CHAPTER 3

To the world,

I will be ash by the time you get to read this, but I doubt that I’ll be forgotten too soon. The media will go into their usual frenzy, and my actions will led to a circus like no other.

I want you all to know that I did not do this for fame. I could care less about whether you all know my name, or who I am. I did what I did to make you all listen. I did what I did to make my life, my existence, mean something. Kindness used to be common. Over time, it became a rarity. And now, it has become obsolete. My actions aim to rectify this. Your hatred of me will unite you, and hopefully make you remember kindness once again.

My actions are also a political statement. Enough of my people have been killed because of your petty politics. Enough of them have suffered at your hands. My religion deserves to exist. My culture, and the beliefs of my brethren, will no longer be stifled and subjugated. We deserve equality. We demand justice. We will no longer be treated like animals because of the color of our skin. And this, unfortunately, is the only way you will listen.

We have tried speaking up. We have tried to make our voices heard. But the only thing you lot give attention to is spectacle. And a spectacle, along with an accompanying boom like no other, is what you shall get. I will make sure of it.

Do with me what you will, but please leave my parents alone. They had no part to play in this. They were not aware of any of it. They would have stopped me, if they had but an inkling of what I plan on doing today. They are innocent, and they must be treated as such. I, and I alone, bear the responsibility for everything that happens today.

I didn’t want it to come to this. But your world left me no choice. You never treated me like one of you. You always treated me like an outcast. And so, I became one. But I found my tribe. And they instilled in me a confidence like no other. Know that I will not be the only one. There will be others like me. You can try stopping us, but your efforts will be nothing more than an exercise in futility.

Nothing will change until you confront the root of the problem. Your racism, your bigotry and your xenophobia are responsible for everything that will come to pass today. You’ll cry your tears, and wonder why I did this horrible thing to you. But you need to realize that you have done this to yourself. You can make me the bad guy. But what I will do to you and your children today is nothing but a reaction to what you and your kin have been doing to me for a while now.

So call me a terrorist if it makes you feel better. Label me a psychopath if it helps you sleep at night. But know this, it takes two hands to clap, and there are always two sides to every story. I wasn’t born this way. And I didn’t have to turn out this way. Your hatred caused this. And this will happen again, and again, and again, and again. This cycle can only be broken if every one of you admits their bigotry and xenophobia. Until then, there will always be warriors like me, martyrs who are willing to sacrifice themselves for a higher purpose. So do your worst. We cannot be stopped. And we will never be silenced.

Ma and Pa, please forgive me. I never meant to hurt you.

I am coming, dear Gods. I put my life in your hands, and I surrender my existence to you. This feat that I am about to accomplish is for your glory.

Goodbye, cruel world.
